A scanned mesh may describe what is physically present. Reverse engineering asks the more useful questions: which features matter, what was probably nominal, where are interfaces, what tolerances are functional, and how should the replacement be manufactured?

STEP/STP CAD, STL/3MF production geometry, DXF profiles, PDF drawings, dimensional reports or prototype parts depending on scope.
